Elephant Stool

This stool is a continuation into the exploration of the opportunities found in off-the-shelf building materials. The seat is curved plywood and the legs are 2x4s and can easily be made from left over wood from construction sites. It’s held together with glue. There are no metal fasteners.

Flat surfaces are not comfortable. To be comfortable a seat needs to match the natural curve of our own seat. This curve was inspired by the curve of an elephant’s back. The top is supported by legs made from 2x4s. Massive in scale in relation to the thin surface of the seat the are an abstraction of an elephant’s legs.
